Presidents Report

______

Chuck Stradling referred to his previously circulated report and highlighted some of LASHA’s key achievements. Specifically, road paving, speed control and the welcome sign at the top of the Concession 16 hill. He also noted that LASHA will need to focus on ensuring that a new, qualified and responsive municipal council is elected in 2026.

He thanked those in attendance for their support and taking the time to attend the AGM.

Guest Presentations

Paul Cowley – President – Federation of Tiny Township Shoreline Associations (FoTTSA)

Mr. Cowley gave a brief outline of what FoTTSA was all about noting that four new associations have recently joined. These association are located along the designate shoreline area of Tiny and focuses primarily on the environment. Their primary initiative was protection of the purest water in the world under threat by gravel excavations in East Tiny. He noted that the current council has been the most difficult they have ever had to deal with and, with the exception of one councillor, they have no interest in the opinions of the taxpayers. Numerous deputations have been presented with absolutely no questions and just received as information. He suggested that until a new council is elected in October 2026 there is little that can be done to halt the construction of the new admin. bldg. Although protests will continue in an attempt to slow progress so that minimum expense is incurred. The other key issue is the shoreline protection bylaw. Although the initial intent was with merit, the

resulting bylaw is far too overreaching and impractical. Even after public input council refuses to listen to reason. FoTTSA and several taxpayers have filed objections with the Ontario Land Tribunal with hearings now scheduled in the new year. FoTTSA is establishing a Community Action Fund to address this and other issues that might arise. He estimates the shoreline bylaw issue alone could cost upwards of $250 K. for legal and professional services.

C. Stradling noted that FoTTSA is an association of 25 associations and does not have individual memberships. LASHA pays FoTTSA an annual fee based on the number of households represented which is currently stands at 120. Mr. Cowley noted that increasing the annual fee by $5.00 would only generate around $10 K. The bulk of their revenue comes from advertising in the twice-yearly Tiny Cottager that is mailed to all residents of Tiny and the monthly FoTTSA Flash.

Nancy Bryant – Tiny Township Residents Alliance (TTRA)

Ms. Bryant gave a brief overview of the TTRA noting that, unlike FoTTSA, it is made up of individual resident throughout the complete geographical area of Tiny. There is no cost to become a member. They are primarily focused on the New Admin. Bldg. and property tax issues as well as developing a recommended candidate list for the upcoming Municipal Elections in October 2026.

She noted that a priority will be getting the word out to seasonal property owners that they can vote in the Tiny Municipal elections as well as their full time residence municipality. As well, that 2026 will be the first time that residents can vote on-line.

The TTRA is a member and supporter of the Property Taxpayers Alliance of Ontario demanding budget transparency and the efficient and effective use of our hard-earned property tax dollars.

Open Discussion

J. Jamieson opened discussion noting the installation of the new Welcome sign on the 16^th Concession and the number of people stopping to take pictures in front of it. He noted that there could be additional messaging could be affixed to the sign addressing seasonal events etc. and requested input.

Other topics of discussion included the Shoreline By-law issue, STR’S, the new municipal building, municipal election 2026 and taxes.

The meeting adjourned at 11:30 am.
