A Message From the Tiny Township Residents Alliance

Dear friends and neighbours,

______

While this is not a LASHA sponsored event, we do believe the New Municipal building will have a significant impact on taxes going forward in the LASHA community and the current Council and our local MP, Jill Dunlop, needs to hear our opposing voice! Strength in Numbers!

Dear friends and neighbours,

The Township of Tiny has announced a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Administrative Building — but in keeping with the tone of this entire project, the public is not invited. Attendance is restricted to a select list of insiders: members of the media, senior municipal staff, Bertrand Construction, the project architect, and local politicians, including MPP Jill Dunlop.

This exclusion speaks volumes. The people paying for this project — the residents of Tiny — are being left outside the fence while a handful of officials and contractors celebrate a project that will burden taxpayers for decades. The Township has allocated zero reserve funds toward the build and instead plans to take on a $28 million loan, with borrowing costs adding another $22 million. To make matters worse, millions are being spent on extravagant and unnecessary features, including $2.5 million in “premium” timber for the lobby alone.

But we refuse to be silent or sidelined. On Friday, October 17th, while officials gather for their closed ceremony, we will gather too — not in protest of progress, but in defense of responsible government and fiscal accountability.

Join us for the Stop the Build Rally at 9:00 a.m. (30 minutes before the ceremony) at 255 Concession 9, between Baseline Road and County Road 6. Please park safely along the wide road shoulders where grass has been trimmed. Bring your signs, your voice, and your conviction that this township belongs to its people — not to consultants, contractors, and politicians seeking photo ops.

This rally is about more than one building. It’s about demanding transparency, accountability, and a future where decisions are made with — not against — the community. Despite months of backlash, council presses forward, confident enough to believe they can sell this project and their re-election campaigns to the same taxpayers footing the bill. Let’s show them otherwise.

They can listen to us now — or they can listen to us later, when the ballots are counted.

Together, we can turn frustration into purpose and exclusion into action. Let’s make this Friday a turning point — a day when the people of Tiny stood up, spoke out, and reclaimed their voice in the future of our township.

With resolve and continued hope that Council will stop this build and lessen the burden on Tiny’s taxpayers!

Regards,

The Stop the Build Team
